Black Diamond Electric was born after owner Preston Seay saw the need for a real, honest process within the solar and electrical industry. Having worked for years for other companies in solar and electrical markets, he saw a consistent issue with the way most companies functioned. The disconnect between sales and installation left a lot of customers hanging out to dry. Too often he witnessed customers being sold one product/service but receiving another, leaving the customer stuck with multitudes of unforeseen out-of-pocket costs. Over and over again customers were left feeling frustrated and taken advantage of.
So he decided to change the narrative and created Black Diamond Electric! Based in integrity and a customer first mindset, BDE has an experienced master electrician involved from the beginning of every single project. There are no sales people selling products they don’t fully understand, or out-of-pocket expenses that should have been included in the quote. Black Diamond Electric is a fully licensed and insured electrical contractor with our main office located in Meridian, Idaho. We operate primarily in southwest Idaho between McCall and Twin Falls, but we’ve completed projects across the state.

PRESTON SEAY
Owner/Master Electrician
Preston is Black Diamond’s owner and master electrician, licensed in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming. His family roots go back generations here in southwest Idaho and he takes pride in living in the town of Weiser. Go Wolverines!
His electrical career began in 2008 with industrial electrical hitch work on the north slope in Alaska. While a unique experience, where he learned a lot, eventually he had had enough of the -60 degree temps and being away from family. He then moved into commercial electrical work, where he spent years building/remodeling hospitals, airports, medical offices, crime labs, etc. In 2016, with Idaho’s solar industry booming, he made the transition into energy services. For the past eight years, he has specialized in all things solar, back-up power and residential related. Preston has truly found his passion in this line of work and the opportunity to work directly with customers.
In his free time, Preston enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. He is an avid big game and bird hunter and loves getting his shorthairs out into Idaho’s back country. He is also a dedicated fisherman who can’t get enough of all that Idaho waters have to offer.
